MAC FireWire &
MAC USB 2.0 device support has been working wonders for many operators
around the world. Next on the 'to-do' list for MM-EDL, is OMF frame
based (embedded) support. This next update will make MM-EDL the
most cost effective means for sound post
professionals to reliably import and open source EDL's originating from
picture post (Avid NLE) after locked picture.

Legendary Sony dubbing
theatres in Culver City join the Hollywood bandwagon and hook up with
MM-EDL. Now many of your favourite future Sony blockbusters will
be processed by MM-EDL.

New 2004 features will
include full FireWire device support. It will now be optional to
have a SCSI adapter installed, while users will be able to utilize the
low cost per unit of FireWire media. MAC & PC file systems will
be supported making PC to MAC and MAC to PC conversions a breeze. OMF
embedded EDL support will also be added, giving AVID picture editors the
reliable audio file interchange with MM-EDL, DAWs, and digital dubbers.

bandwagon and purchases multiple MM-EDL's. Now many of your favourite
future Disney movies will be processed by MM-EDL.

A new feature on the horizon
(mid 2004) will be support for the BU format. This will allow operators
to ethernet transfer BU projects to the PC, and then expand that *.BU
file to a regular OpenTL project. The BU file format originates
from TASCAM MMR-8 & MX-2424 recorders. One single file per project
contains all source data and EDL making asset management very organized
and simple.
Note
that the BU wrapper can also be utilized in ViewNet Audio & MX-View.
A technical document in the MANUALS section will outline design
principles.
